Welcome to the Great War Society UK community website - Great War period reenactments
A First World War living history organisation rather than a Great War battle reenactment group, The Great War Society UK are a non profit organisation. We provide a valuable oppurtunity for practical research into First World War uniforms, Great War weapons, WW1 equipment, WWI training and everyday tasks of First World War soldiers, both of the Allied and Central powers.
GWS members dress in WW1 period uniforms and equipment and partake in the training and everyday activities of the Great War era. We are a Great War living history, rather than a battle re-enactment group.
First World War Soldiers Historians and reenactors
We do not look to over sentimentalise the image of the Great War soldier, but rather try to re-create the practical if somewhat naive approach to the horrors of the First World War, in order to give the public, and our members a small taste of what it felt like to take part in the First World War.
Historical accuracy of the First World War period is of paramount importance to us as a highly regarded WW1 Living History Society.
First World War Soldiers
Set up in 1984 the Great War Society UK has featured as extras in many WW1 period television and WW1 film documentaries.
